District Social Service Officers Training Programme - (DSSO)
Aim of the DSSO Training Programme

The aim of this training programme is to help local government officers build capacity through technical assistance and training and evaluate local and cumulative progress towards sustainable development. Participants will receive training to enhance their skills in the areas of budgeting and finance, operations management and leadership & governance as well as develop a skills base, which will equip them to efficiently operate social services delivery in their own areas and improve upon them.

The overall objective of the government is to enhance the welfare of its people by making the public sector more effective, efficient and responsive through the processes of decentralization, informed decision making and capacity building. It aims to work towards a system that is participatory, gender sensitive, transparent and accountable to all beneficiaries.

The restructured local government system which is primarily designed to be people centered, responsibility based and service oriented at the grass root level requires that the new local government officers be trained in modern management systems and procedures. This has led to an increasing demand for enhanced management skills for district social service officers.
